Classes

At SCP, our focus is learning through play. Our play-based curriculum includes age appropriate activities in art, music, math, dramatic play, social skills, science, language and early literacy. Preschool classes are filled with singing, dancing, tower building, stories, painting, dress up, field trips and outdoor experiences. Learning activities frequently change to remain stimulating and fun. Read our learning philosophy.

Parents work one day per week in class per enrolled student! For further questions please e-mail our registrar at registrar@snohomishcooppreschool.org They also attend monthly meetings, have a family job, and more. Please read through our member responsibilities.

SCP is not a faith-based preschool, we are a secular preschool that rents classroom space from First Presbyterian Church of Snohomish. We welcome families with all different religious beliefs.

Meet the Teachers

Teacher Melinda, Pre-K / STEAM 2025-2026

Hello, I’m Melinda Bose, and my journey with Snohomish Cooperative Preschool began as a parent. Enriched by the community, values, and play-based learning ethos of this cooperative, I felt a deep calling to contribute meaningfully. With over 7 years of experience in childcare, combined with teaching roles in corporate and religious settings, I bring a natural passion for nurturing and fostering playful learning environments.

Beyond the classroom, I enjoy exploring the world with my family of three, hosting joyful gatherings for loved ones, indulging in romcom novels, and dancing up a storm in our living room with my daughter. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to grow and learn alongside you and your little ones.

Teacher Meredith, 2’s / STEAM 2025-2026

I am Meredith Scherrer, teacher at Snohomish Cooperative Preschool. I have been involved in early childhood education since 1995, and have experience in a wide variety of settings, from corporate centers to family-run, from 24-hour care to faith-based centers, and in five different states. My years of working with a wide variety of families, including bilingual and bicultural families, and children with a variety of needs, including selective mutism, autism, oppositional defiant disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, seizures, prosthetics, post traumatic stress disorder, and fetal alcohol syndrome, I have learned that every child brings value and experience into the classroom, and every family teaches me something new. I currently have a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Child Development, and I aspire to eventually earn my PhD in Early Childhood Education.

On a more personal note, I have been married since 2011 and have two amazing children that I have homeschooled since kindergarten. They are both SCP graduates. I enjoy dancing, reading, and good food, and I look forward to meeting you soon!

Teacher Amber, 3’s 2025-2026

Hello! I am Amber Anderson. This is my third year at SCP as a parent and my first year as a Teacher at SCP. I fell in love with the cooperative way of helping our children grow, learn, and play. I grew up babysitting before I got my first “real” job. I have continued to babysit off and on throughout my life. I have experience as an assistant teacher at a daycare and a ton of informal teaching experience. My favorite was as a docent at the Woodland Park Zoo and seeing kids’ faces light up when I told them about cool animal facts. I have a bachelor’s degree and a focus on General Education. I love teaching at every level and am so happy to be here and teaching our littles at SCP.

When I am not at SCP, I spend time with my family of four. You can find us out exploring nature when the weather is nice. We really enjoy ferry rides or hiking in the mountains. Or, of course, you can find us at the zoo trying to get the best picture we can of the tigers. I also enjoy gardening and baking. Thank you and I look forward to growing and learning with your little ones!
